St. Wilfrid’s and the Diocese of Southwell
There are standard links with the Diocese operating at various levels, through courses run by the Diocese and general correspondence.
One of our parishioners is a lay member of Diocesan Synod and as such has a place on our PCC. This parishioner has also been the Administrator for Time Travelling. This is a Key stage 1 and 2 educational event run by the diocese with the help of many volunteers at Southwell Minster.
Our Associate Priest is a clergy member of Diocesan Synod, a member of Bishop’s Council and a lead member of the Board of Education. He is currently acting Diocesan Director of Education in a part time capacity, pending a new appointment to the Diocese. The former incumbent of the parish is also now the Chief Executive of the Diocese.
St. Wilfrid’s seeks to follow Diocesan policy detailed in ‘Working Well Together’. The church has consistently supported its members in taking up ministry roles. In 2004 one member left to be ordained into another local curacy and another will take up training for ordination. This year three of our parishioners have also completed the Bishop’s Certificate course (now known as the Diocesan Certificate).
